How timed auctions work in BidJS

Every setting you need to run a fair, competitive, high-converting timed sale — all configurable per auction.

Staggered lot endings

Lots close at configurable intervals — preventing last-second bid dumps and creating natural momentum through the sale. Bidders who arrive early for one lot often stay for the next.

Overtime bidding

Any bid placed in the final minutes of a lot automatically extends the closing time. You control the window — ensuring genuine competitive bidding rather than clock-watching.

Autobids with dynamic increments

Bidders set a maximum and the system bids on their behalf up to that limit, following your defined increment table. Increment steps adjust automatically as the price rises.

Pre-bidding

Open bidding before your auction officially starts to build momentum and give absentee bidders a head start. Especially useful for high-volume catalogues.

Reserve prices

Set hidden reserves. BidJS shows 'Reserve met' or 'Reserve not met' to bidders without revealing the amount. Reserves can be edited at any time before reconciliation.

Placeholder auctions

Publish an auction shell to capture registrations before lots are confirmed — ideal for estate sales where cataloguing takes time.
