The maximum is never revealed to other bidders or to the auctioneer. Autobids work in timed auctions throughout the sale, and in the pre-bidding phase of webcast auctions.

Dynamic increments
The bid step adjusts automatically as price rises — a £5 step at £150 becomes a £25 step at £600. Increment tables are fully customisable per auction.
Fixed increments
Set a single uniform step for the whole auction — useful for specialist sales with consistent lot values where a flat increment is fairer.
Named increment tables
Create and save increment tables by name, then apply them at auction level. Reuse the same logic across similar sale types without reconfiguring each time.
Commission bids (webcast)
Pre-registered commission bids placed before a live sale are executed automatically against floor and online bidders during clerking — so absentee buyers compete on equal terms.
How autobids work
Bidder sets a maximum
They enter the most they're willing to pay. This ceiling is encrypted and never shown to other participants.
BidJS bids on their behalf
Each time they're outbid, the system advances them to the next valid increment, up to their maximum.
Bidder wins at the right price
They pay only as much as needed to beat the next bidder, not their full maximum.
